FILMS AND PLAYS
Three of Divakaruni's works have been made into films. All have won awards.
Two of her works have been made into plays.
One Amazing Thing, Palace of Illusions and her upcoming novel The Last Queen, have been optioned by Hollywood.
Divakaruni wrote the libretto for the opera River of Light performed by the Houston Grand Opera and Festival Opera (California).

FILMS
The Mistress of Spices, starring Aishwarya Rai and Dylan McDermott, was made into an English film by filmmakers Gurinder Chadha and Paul Berges. It is available on Netflix.
TRAILER, MISTRESS OF SPICES
Sister of My Heart was made into a Tamil TV serial by Suhasini Mani Ratnam. The Tamil title is Anbulla Snegidheiye.
A short story, "The Word Love," from the collection Arranged Marriage, was made into a bilingual short film, titled Ammar Maa, by director Samir Banerjee.

PLAYS
The story "Clothes" from Arranged Marriage was made into a dance drama and directed by Roberta Uno of the New World Theater at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
"Clothes" was also made into a play titled Arranged Marriage and performed by the Sacramento Theater Company.
The Palace of Illusions was made into a play titled Fire and Ice:Draupadi's Story, written and directed by Joe DiSabatino in India. (Slideshow on top of page)
